Kingston's new HyperX Reds makes you remember why RAMs are just as important as any other component

Oftentimes, when building a new computer, the RAM is usually one of the last components considered to be bought. A shame, really, considering that investing in very good RAM helps in making a very stable and fast computer. And speaking of good RAMs, we have the Kingston HyperX Red right here in our labs.

The HyperX Red, if you are familiar with previous variants of the RAM sticks feature one significant change in design: the colour. While other HyperX sticks are usually blue in colour, the HyperX Reds are, well you guessed it, in a striking hue of red. While this is certainly for aesthetic purposes only, certain builders out there with a penchant for style with substance can certainly be pleased with the colour shift. The heatsink size here (which is, if you can tell, satisfyingly slim) makes it great for building on packed motherboards.

Available in variants of either 4GB or 8GB sticks, the HyperX Reds comes with clocked speeds of 1,333MHZ and 1,600MHz respectively in both 1.65v and 1.5v models for overclocking needs.

Running a few simple overclocking tests, we managed to overclock the RAMs to about 2,005MHz stable by just playing around with the multipliers. This is an addition of 400MHz to an already very fast pair of RAM; an impressive feat. Of course, with a proper setup and customisation done, we're sure the HyperX Red can go up to 2,133MHz and even 2,400MHz with little to no problem whatsoever.
