Ever since
Instagram made its appearance on the iOS, Android fans have been clamouring for
similar apps to be made on the Google OS platform. There have been many similar
attempts, but we've basically narrowed down the list to three great substitutes
that you can consider, at least until Instagram finally hits the Android

The Closest Thing: Streamzoo

closest thing to Instagram you ask? Why yes, it might just be. Streamzoo is an
award-winning app most tech blogs consider to be the best replacement for
Instagram, especially on Android devices. Registering and logging in is a
simple matter of choosing a login name and password, and voilal You're in.
Pictures taken with Streamzoo can be edited with a choice of 14 different
filters, 15 border effects for that purikura-style photo capture and also a
tilt-shift feature that can be used for miniaturised toy effects. You can also
rotate, crop, set the brightness, contrast and saturation levels according to
your liking before sending the photo out on the World Wide Web. With Streamzoo,
not only can you upload your photos to Facebook and Twitter to share them with
your friends, you can also add friends on the app and view photos that they've
taken with their phones that have been uploaded to the service. And if that's
not enough, you can even browse through the hashtags and go through the
pictures of some of the most Like'd photos on Streamzoo. Similar to Foursquare,
Streamzoo also has a leaderboard and badges to reward achievements and making
it feel like you're playing a little social media game with your friends. The
wide array of features and extras that are provided on Streamzoo certainly does

Flickr
Flickr is an
online photo album service by search giant Yahoo! to make sharing photos online
a much simpler and more dynamic affair. The app uses the same login details as
the original online service does, so if you have an existing Flickr account,
you're already more or less good to go. Much like its predecessor, you can
upload photos and do some simple photo editing on the app before you upload it
onto the Internet. Sharing photos is also a feature in the app, but to activate
the sharing procedures you will have to go to the desktop website and set the
permissions there before they are transferred onto the mobile app. The Flickr
mobile app is a simple image-sharing app, a bit too simple, perhaps for some,
and feels more like a basic extension of an already existing service than
something that adds value to the users.

PicPlz
PicPlz is a pretty
interesting photo sharing app. Similar in terms of functionality to that of
Streamzoo, with the filter effects and somewhat extensive levels of photo
editing capabilities, you can also add stickers to decorate your photos making
them look interesting and funny. While it's not as verbose as Streamzoo, a big
extra PicPlz has over other image sharing platforms is the number of services
it can share too. Not only can you share your photos via Facebook and Twitter,
PicPlz also supports services such as Dropbox, Flickr, Tumblr, Foursquare and
Posterous. PicPlz is definitely a great app to try out if you're a big user of
the other services.
