Corsair breaks into the gaming peripherals
market with the K90 keyboard
Corsair is a brand known more for their
computer components, but their gaming peripherals market certainly has been gaining
good steam. They've recently ventured into gaming keyboards, the first of which
is the Corsair Vengeance K90 gaming keyboard.
First and foremost, the K90 is a mechanical
keyboard, which means that they feature Cherry switches, something preferred by
PC enthusiasts all round. Specifically, the K90 employs the use of Cherry MX
Reds, which in comparison to other Cherry switches, requires the least amount
of pressure to press, making it great for fast paced games such as MMOs and
fighting/adventure games.
Speaking of MMOs, macros are a big thing if
you want to have the best experience, and what better way to program them than
on proper macro keys? The K90 boasts a whopping number of 18 macro keys, or
G-Keys, as they call them. And not only that, it also features three different
memory banks, which means you can macro up to 54 commands to the keys when you
play different games on it.
Vengeance K60 is designed for FPS gamers while Vengeance K90 is
designed for MMO and RTS gamers
The K90 also comes with a set of multimedia
keys, which allows you to control volume levels and pause, play and skip tracks
all from the keyboard without having to switch your windows. Speaking of which,
the K90 is also illuminated by LED backlighting, making it a great keyboard to
game with even in the dark. Corsair have also been generous enough as to put
one USB port at the back of the keyboard, which can be used to connect a mouse
or thumbdrives to the computer.
USB-based keyboards, even gaming ones,
occasionally suffer ghosting issues. The K90 does not suffer from this, as it
is capable of detecting 20 simultaneous keypresses. We did test it out with 10
fingers, and all 10 keys registered normally: that's more than good enough.
