2. Assigning a Mailbox to More than One User

For most administrators, user accounts and mailboxes are created a few at a time rather than one at a time. The procedure for doing this using the EMC is almost identical to the procedure for assigning a mailbox to a single user. When configuring the mailbox settings (shown in Figure 9), the alias for each user is automatically configured; the alias will be the same as the user's Active Directory user account. The mailbox database must also be the same for all the users selected.

The configuration summary (shown in Figure 10) will show you all the users selected and what will be configured for each user.

One annoyance that you will experience when configuring more than one user is that if you assign a user a managed folder policy, the legacy clients confirmation box (shown previously in Figure 6) will pop up for each user that you are configuring. You can avoid this by using the Exchange Management Shell, but that may be more than many administrators are prepared to deal with.

Finally, the Completion screen that shows you the EMS cmdlet(s) that were executed is a bit different. In Figure 11 you can see the EMS cmdlets that were executed to mailbox-enable two user accounts. Note that in this case the unique name of the user account was piped to the Enable-Mailbox cmdlet.
