The WG-10 is the latest primary-line camera
of Pentax designed for outdoor and underwater use - with featuring waterproof,
shockproof, freeze-proof and crushproof. It has a 14 megapixel sensor, 5x
optical zoom, is available in black and red versions, and is priced at about
$210.

The Pentax WG-10 is waterproof to 10m,
shockproof to 1.5m, freeze-proof to -10°C and crushproof up to 100kg. It
features a 14 megapixel CCD sensor and a 5x optical zoom lens, 35mm equivalent
of 28-140mm, with Pixel Track SR (Shake Reduction) to help keep your images
from not being blurred.
When capturing with Auto Picture mode,
which automatically selects the most appropriate shooting mode from 16
different shooting modes. There is a Digital Microscope mode that allows macro
shooting as close as 1cm distance, with 5 LEDs around the lens to help to
brighten up your shooting target. There is also a stop to help maintain minimum
focusing distance to the subject (image size is limited to 2 megapixels). You
are able to edit your images via the playback menu with 12 digital filters.
The video is recorded in 720p HD mode at 30
fps, with the camera that can be connected to an HDTV via an HDMI cable for
playback.

Processing
The Pentax WG-10 is rubber-wrapped on the
outside and has a weird shape, all of which makes it easy to hold, even in wet
or cold weather. This primary camera sample does not have the dual locking
system for the memory card and featured battery on the WG-3. A plastic ring is
provided with the camera that acts as a support for the use of digital microscope
modes.
On top of the camera you'll see the on/off
button and shutter button. The back has two buttons to adjust the optical zoom;
the lens is placed inside the camera. Other buttons consist of playback, face
recognition, menu, a d-pad and green and a d-pad key that is used to cycle
through the menus and also allows accessing to the self-timer, flash, and
autofocus shooting modes.
The 2.7-inch screen is bright and clear,
with the modest resolution at 230k dots. It has an anti-reflection coating to
minimize glare and reflection. The menu system is well exposed quite easy to
use.
Battery life is rated at 260 images
according to CIPA testing results. We captured a number of images to test the
response of the camera, switching from the first picture, one after the other,
with the focusing speed etc. We took some photos and then used the average to
make sure accurate and consistent tests, which makes it easy to compare with
other cameras
