Processing

Canon Powershot N has metal body and especially unusual design. First, it has a square screen which is in contrast to the rectangle design which is typical to the travel camera. The rear of the camera rotates 90o and has a 2.8-inch touch screen, which means there’s not too may buttons. Sitting on the camera edge is the power button and on the other edge is the button for Creative Shot mode, mobile device connecting and playback buttons.

There’re 2 rings on the front of the camera, the front ring can be pressed up or down to open the shutter. The inner ring is used to adjust the magnification. You can use the camera rotating back by zoom and the shutter has dual-direction ability. It’s different, and takes a little while to get familiar to. You can also use the touch screen to set up focus and shutter release. The LED is not exceptionally large and powerful as it stays on the same position with the focus assisting lamp.

To use Wi-Fi you need to press the mobile-device connecting button sitting on the edge of the camera. Then you need to use the portable device to connect the camera, first by accessing its Wi-Fi network, opening the Canon app. Canon app is easy to use for downloading images and videos from the camera.

Battery life is rated at only 200 images according to the testing result of CIPA, pretty low, especially when you want to use Wi-Fi continuously. We take many night shots to check the responsiveness of the camera, from the first shot, one by one, focusing speed, etc. we take some of the shots and take the average to make sure that the test is precise and consistent, making it easy to compare with other cameras.
