It seems D-Link has been up in the clouds with a slew of its products integrating some sort of cloud feature inside. The same can be said for its dual band router, which goes by the name of D-Link Cloud Router Wireless AC 1750 Dual Band Cloud Router or D-Link DIR-865L for short. With it hooked into my notebook, let’s see what kind of performance this cloud router can deliver.

Stand up

Compared to its other cousins, the DIR-865L looks a bit boring. The company opted for a rectangular design that sits vertically. Although uninspiring, it does save space at home. Just slip it in somewhere, and it is good to go. Setting it up is straightforward. Just plug the power, connect its WAN port to an Internet source and it is good to go.

Latest Wi-Fi

The main feature here has got to be the IEEE 802.11ac as it is D-Link’s first router to support it and provide connectivity on the 5GHz band. Being a dual band router means is can support 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. The cloud feature, meanwhile, enables it to monitor connected devices. From D-Link’s mobile app and software, users can view the status of the DIR-865L and its connected clients in real time. Connection-wise, it is stable and there doesn’t seem to be too much of a fluctuation when I go from room to room.
