The AW110 offers colorful images with good exposure, as well as good performance when shooting underwater. Portraits have good skin tones, while being free of red-eye.

Lens Quality

Detail is good at both ends of the lens, although they're softer in the corners. There is little sign of purple fringing. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of only 1 cm, this gives a very detailed macro photography.

ISO image noise level

ISO image test

ISO image test

Noise is low at ISO 125, 200 and 400, with a few slightly soft spot in ISO 800. Noise causes loss of detail in the image at ISO 1600, with more detail being lost in ISO 3200.

White balance efficiency

Under incandescent lights, automatic white balance (AWB) and preset incandescent achieve good results for the identical image. AWB under fluorescent lights perform well, with bright red results when using fluorescent preset.

Panorama mode is quite detailed and stitched together well. There are options to shoot panoramic 180° and 360°, you can also shoot in four directions, left, right up or down.

The AW100 was Nikon's first all-weather camera and the AW110 proves to be a steady upgrade, adding Wi-Fi feature and almost doubling its waterproofness to 18m. Good image quality and the images are less noisy than the AW100's at lower ISOs. Images are slightly soft in the corners, but this is common for cameras with internal zoom lenses. Overall, we are pleased to introduce the Nikon Coolpix AW110.
