Nikon D5200 DSLR is ideal for your first DSLR or just as an upgrade from the older model. It is well designed, comfortable and easy to use, and offers very good image quality at an affordable price.

Nikon D5200

Nikon's D5200 is a mid-range digital SLR that allows people who do not have much money to achieve great photos.

D5200 offers excellent image quality. Our images are vivid and have good color depth, with plenty of details in the dark and light area. Noise will not be found in ISO 6400. You can see a little wash-out, but this is easy to solve in the editing-image process.

Video mode offers creative control, allowing you to manually adjust the aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and offers the option of shooting full-HD at 30fps, 25fps or 24fps.

Resulted video has high quality and when used with a tripod, D5200 can provide smooth, vivid movie scenes. The autofocus is available in video mode, although we found deafening sound created when the "search" was recorded by the camera's built-in stereo mic.

Nikon's build quality is quite good, with deep hand grip at the front and rubber thumb-placed in the rear. The body weighs 550g, which is quite light for a DSLR, means that this Nikon is comfortable to hold.

18-55mm kit lens that comes along is a great start for anyone new to DSLR. K-mount allows you to use Nikon lenses.

The 3-inch swivel LCD screen is bright and lively, with the accurate colors that help you adjust the balance. It has an anti-glare coating against the bright sunlight. LCD folds neatly to avoid scratch, then lying to the side. In Live View mode, it allows easy shooting from awkward angles, such as on top of a crowd.

The D5200 is easy to use, with one wheel on top and an easy-navigation screen interface. Although they do not have dedicated buttons, ISO and exposure can easily be found and adjusted.

The 39-point autofocus feature of Nikon is easy to use and provides great results even in low light conditions (of course, a little slower here).

The inclusion of Effects mode is interesting. Not sure many photographers will use them often, but the effect is beautiful and features include tilt-shift and color selection functions.

Verdict

Nikon D5200 DSLR is ideal for your first DSLR or just as an upgrade from the older model. It is well designed, comfortable and easy to use, and offers very good image quality at an affordable price. Our only complaint is the lack of focusing in some images.
