Samsung Smart Camera EX2F - Great Professional-Grade Compact Camera
The camera’s 24-80mm lens may have the shortest reach here but it stands out from the spec sheet on account of its wide f/1.4-2.7 aperture (no doubt helped by its more limited range). The lens also boasts an image-stabilization system, while behind it sits a 12.4MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor which is capable of capturing full HD videos.
Experience Sony NEX-3N (Part 2)
Sony’s 16-50mm electronic zoom lens is probably our favorite retractable one – not because of its optical properties, but mainly because it offers a zoom slider on the barrel and a zoom ring around the front of the lens.
Experience Sony NEX-3N (Part 1)
Sony NEX-3N is the company's ninth e-mount camera since its launch three years ago, and also the fourth entry-level model. The entry-level 3 series is specifically aimed at compact camera users who are looking for better image quality, but hope to avoid the complexity of the DSLR.
Pentax X-5 - A Well-Specified Bridge Camera
The chief selling point of the X-5, alongside its relatively affordable price tag, is the large focal range. The model features a 26>: optical zoom with an impressive wide angle of 22.3mm. The zoom benefits from Pentax's dual shake-reduction system and a minimum focal length of just 1cm.
Olympus Pen E-PL5 – Deliver Enough New Tricks To Make A Case For Itself? (Part 1)
While Panasonic’s G1 may have been the first CSC, it was the Olympus PEN E-Pl that really sparked interest in this new system among photographers, thanks to its blend of DSLR-like image quality and handling characteristics in a smaller, stylish body. Since then, the PEN range has grown to encompass three different lines, with the “Lite” model as the mid-level offering.
Panasonic G X Vario PZ 14-42mm f/3.5 - 5.6 ASPH Power OIS
Panasonic previously had both 14-42mm and 14-45mrr zooms in its lens range and has now added a second 14-42mm lens that eschews traditional rotating collars in favor of electrically-driven focus and zoom mechanisms. As a result, the new 14-42mm lens is considerably more compact than the traditional version and is also around half the mass. On the other hand, it is about 75% more expensive.
Olympus Pen E-PL5 – Deliver Enough New Tricks To Make A Case For Itself? (Part 2)
The E-PL3 already had a fast AF system at one point it held the accolade of delivering the fastest AF of any camera to date and we have to say that in Single AF. focusing on the E-PL5 is pretty instantaneous, only having a slight tendency to hunt in poorly lit, low-contrast scenes, or when you try to close focus near the limit of the lens’s minimal focusing point; where it moves in and out of focus a couple of times before it hits the sweet spot.
Panasonic G Vario 45-150mm f/4-5.6 Aspherical Mega OIS
Panasonic’s G-series 45-150mm lens sits alongside two alternatives; one covers 45-175mm (with a power zoom) and the other covers 45-200mm. The 45-175mm PZ is significantly more expensive but superficially there is little to choose between the other two.
Nikon 1 V2 - Compact Camera System (Part 2)
The Nikon 1 V2 benefits from the same focus system found in the other models in Nikon’s 1 series of cameras. The set-up is an advanced hybrid AF system which instantly switches between a 73-point phase-detection and 135-point contrast-detection AF system to suit the scene that you’re capturing.
Nikon 1 V2 - Compact Camera System (Part 1)
The Compact System Camera (CSC) market has seen an explosion in popularity in recent times, with the marriage between the versatility of interchangeable lenses and the practicality of having a body smaller than a traditional DSLR proving a winning formula. Nikon was a relative latecomer to the market, with the 1 series launching towards the end of 2011.
Olympus OM-D - A Small And Lightweight Camera
I mentioned the poor battery life at the wedding in my last report. On reflection this was probably because I was shooting candids and spent long periods peering through the viewfinder waiting for decisive moments. Unlike optical viewfinders on DSLRs, which consume no power, EVFs like the OM-D’s do, which is a drawback I hadn’t thought much about before.
CANON EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
At 645g this is a fairly heavy lens that feels solid and well-built. It nestles nicely in the hand and has a broad, short-throw zoom ring that occupies most of the front half of the lens barrel. There is a smaller manual-focusing ring to the rear and a focused-distance window at the back of the lens with sliders below to set the focusing mode and to activate the image stabilization (IS) system.
Canon EOS 6D Digital SLR Camera - Incredibly Low Noise At High ISO Speeds
The EOS 6D is Canon’s most affordable full-frame SLR to date. Its sensor is similar to the one in the luxurious 5D Mark III (web ID: 377806), but its controls have more in common with the cheaper 60D. It’s also the first Canon SLR to incorporate Wi-Fi and GPS, and with a price right between those two cameras, it’s a tempting proposition for keen amateurs who want the low noise and big viewfinder that come with a full-frame camera.

Samsung Galaxy Camera - The Future Of Digital Photography (Part 2)
The sheer size of the touchscreen on the rear of the Galaxy Camera strikes you the second you pick it up. At 4.8in, it’s the very same as that found on Samsung’s acclaimed Galaxy S3 smartphone and on the whole it offers much the same high-level performance.
Samsung Galaxy Camera - The Future Of Digital Photography (Part 1)
There’s no denying that smartphones are becoming the take-everywhere camera of choice for many photographers, although while the imaging capabilities have improved in recent years, there are still limitations. The need for a slim and pocketable device means that none have as yet featured an optical zoom, while sensor size is also limited for the same reasons.
Sony RX1 - The World’s Smallest Full-Frame Camera (Part 3)
In the hundreds of images captured for this test, only a small handful showed any errors in judgement on the part of the camera's Auto White Balance system. In addition to a couple of slightly purple casts captured under natural light, the only time the camera's Auto White Balance system produced slightly inconsistent results was under a combination of daylight and halogen spotlights, conditions which would tax any camera's AWB system.
Sony RX1 - The World’s Smallest Full-Frame Camera (Part 2)
The camera’s focusing system is a fast performer overall, but it lacks the promptness we’ve seen on the most recent crop of Compact System Cameras (this may well be thanks to the size and weight of the lens’s elements).
Sony RX1 - The World’s Smallest Full-Frame Camera (Part 1)
As an increasing number of compacts and Compact System Cameras have adopted APS-C sensors, focus has shifted on the prospect of full-frame alternatives trickling down in the same way. While Leica has already successfully integrated such sensors inside five of its M-series models, their rangefinder construction, high price and marginal advantage in size over DSLRs has left them niche and unobtainable to all but the most well-heeled enthusiast.
Fujifilm X-E1 - Is This The Perfect Enthusiast CSC? (Part 2)
As mentioned, one of the issues that came to light when we tested the X-Prol was the relatively slow focusing speed delivered. The X-E1, with its enhanced algorithms, promises to improve on this and it’s fair to say it has. Focusing is much more prompt in single AF, with only minimal hunting with the 18-55mm lens.
Fujifilm X-E1 - Is This The Perfect Enthusiast CSC? (Part 1)
The past couple of years has seen a bit of a renaissance for the Fujifilm brand in the eyes of the photographer, starting with the lovely X100 premium compact camera that was then followed by the X10 and the company’s first Compact System Camera, the X-Pro1.
Fujifilm X-Pro1 - One Of The Very Best CSC On The Market
There’s no denying that the Fujifilm X-Pro1 is one of the very best Compact System Cameras on the market. When we tested it in May last year we gave it a score of 92% and a Gold award and described the image quality as some of the best we’d seen from any camera with an APS-C sensor. T
NIKKOR AF-S 2S-300mm f/3.5-5.GG ED VR
With a nearly 11x zoom range this addition to Nikon’s line-up is clearly worthy of serious attention, but when you note that the lens offers full-frame coverage and is available for comfortably under $1,142 it becomes an even more attractive proposition.
SONY NEX-6 Camera - Good Value For Money (Part 2)
It's larger than expected, yet not so large that the entirety of its feed cannot be comfortably taken from one position (which includes all exposure information around it). It’s bright and contrasty, and presents details with unprecedented clarity only when looking through it for extended periods do you notice a touch of noise and artefacts dancing around details.
SONY NEX-6 Camera - Good Value For Money (Part 1)
Sony’s success in the Compact System Camera market was perhaps something that could have been predicted from the off, given its established Cybershot compact range beneath it and a healthy range of DSLRs and SLTs above it. It seemed certain that any cameras between the two would be imbued with the some of the impressive functionality seen in both lines, and the NEX-6 serves as the latest testament to this.
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
There has always been a good case for saying that optimum performance is achieved when a lens is designed for one specific purpose: some lenses are great for versatility but if you have a particular application in mind then it is always best to seek out a lens that was designed for that specific purpose. Canon's EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM is the perfect example of a lens that does one thing very, very well indeed.
Canon Powershot S110 Digital Camera - The Latest Advanced PowerShot Compact
The S110 is the latest advanced PowerShot compact and it carries all of the hallmarks established in previous models while adding extra functionality to bring it in line with competing advanced compacts. There are several elements of the S110 that remain unchanged in comparison to its predecessor - the SIOO.
Extra Sensory Perfection
Until recently, the idea of a full-frame Canon at this price was unthinkable but it turns out there’s a Porcine Aviation Society after all. The EOS 6D packs an all-new 20.2MP sensor, a GPS receiver so you can add location data and Wi-Fi for direct uploading of pics to a computer, tablet or social-media site.
The Samsung GALAXY Camera - An All New Hybrid
Samsung Malaysia Electronics, once again, decided to embrace another hybrid concept through the introduction of Samsung Galaxy Camera. The camera is Samsung’s first “truly” connected camera as it combines photography features with 3G and Wi-Fi functionality, all of which is powered with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Canon EOS M - Live Up To Its Pedigree?
The APS-C sensor from Canon's mighty EOS 650D has been transplanted into the EOS M. as has the DIGIC 5 processor and its 31-point autofocus. However, the EF-M lens mount is all-new and means a new range of smaller lenses.
Sony NEX-5R - A Very Affordable Camera
Sony's NEX range of compact mirror-less cameras have been acknowledged as among the best in this segment. So when we got our hands on the new NEX 5R it had a lot of expectations to live up to. However, after a week of use we were convinced that if anyone has decided to buy a compact system camera we wouldn't have any qualms on recommending this one.
Samsung NX1000 - The Do It All Camera
The NX1000 too gives you the option of shooting in RAW. It also gives you almost all the shooting options available on the DSLR, along with the Magic mode with frames and filters, a smart mode where the camera chooses the setting and a scene mode.
Samsung GALAXY Camera - The World's First Smart Camera
Design wise the camera is definitely on the big side of compact. It is not something that y can easily slip into your pocket. However the camera makes it up by having a long 21x zoom lens packed within. With it, this camera quickly becomes the only one that can give you the capability of taking some you know from afar .
Canon EOS 6D - Full-Frame Your Photos
The Canon 6D is the Canon’s latest model, which is designed for semi-professionals that want a light body to carry around for their work but still need to work with a full-framed sensor. Let’s see how the 6D is like.
Panasonic Lumix DSC-GX1 - Showing It’s Pedigree
The compact mirrorless camera is pretty much a Panasonic creation. So the Panasonic Lumix DSC-GX1 gives you the comfort of the most mature compact system camera. This means ease-of-use and a versatility very few cameras of this kind can offer.
The EOS M - Not As Large As A DSLR
It has taken a long time coming, but canon finally has a compact mirrorless camera in its stables. The EOS M is like a Canon EOS DSLR that has been miniaturized. So inside it is still the same old Canon control, though a lot less complex and much more simplified.
Canon EOS 6D - Lightest Full Frame DSLR Yet!
Canon releases the new EOS 6D, which the company claims is “the world’s lightest full-frame DSLR” equipped with a 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor with precision 11-point AF system. Additionally, Canon also included built-in Wi-Fi and GPS support for those who wants to stay connected.
Nikon 1s – Camera Company Releases Four New Cameras
Nikon Corporation released two new Nikon 1 advanced cameras with interchangeable lenses – the Nikon 1 J3 and the Nikon 1 S1. Both are new representative in the company’s compact, lightweight camera system that proposes new ways of using digital cameras with interchangeable lenses.
Super-zoom Superstars – Q1 2013 (Part 2) : Nikon Coolpix P520, Panasonic Lumix FX200, Panasonic FZ200
At just 24x It may have the smallest zoom on test, but the 12MP Panasonic Impresses from the start and it rarely drops the ball. That constant f/2.8 Leica lens and solid exterior promise great things, and that’s what you get.
Super-zoom Superstars – Q1 2013 (Part 1) : Canon PowerShot 5X50 HS, Fujifilm HS3OEXR, Olympus SP – 820UZ
With a massive 50x optical zoom, the 12.1MP Canon will get you closer to your subject than other camera here. It's designed to appeal to serious snappers, and gives you access to full manual control, and the option to shoot in RAW format too.
