He comes in black and white. And you can choose the package reserved for the watch  without the Polar H7 heart-rate monitor. But the point is to realize of your heart rate thus when you establish, it seems reasonable to take the whole package.

The version of examination is, suitably, polar white. It cannot seem chews, but it seems certainly with the mode. It is probably more with the mode dealing with elegant Suunto Ambit3 Peak Sapphire .

The face of the M400 has a small monochrome display enclosed by a black bezel. Three buttons on its right side are for navigating the interface. The top and bottom buttons for up and down; the middle, for enter.

On the left side are two buttons with the upper one being the light button and the bottom one as the back button.

Navigating the menu is a breeze. Just press the enter button to get options for running, cycling and other indoor and outdoor workouts. You do need to press hard to get a response.

The display is easy to read, even in bright sunlight. When you run, your pace, distance travelled, lap times and heart rate are all shown by default in the same panel.

This is superb, as you get all the relevant information at a glance.

If you need to, you can toggle to the heart-rate panel to check if you are in your target zone, or to the pace panel to show how fast you are going.

The Polar H7 heart-rate monitor is quite standard. It is easy to wear and not uncomfortable when it is properly adjusted. But you cannot use it for swimming.

Of all the GPS watches we tested, the M400 took the longest to get a GPS fix. In an HDB neighbourhood, it took nearly a minute; on a stadium track, about 45 seconds.

It was very accurate in tracking distance on a stadium track. The margin of error was 1.1 per cent. On a neighbourhood route, the margin of error increased to 3 per cent.

To charge the watch and sync with the computer software, Polar Flow, you just need the ubiquitous micro-USB cable. If your smartphone is an Android model, you will not even need to take along an extra cable.

The watch can be paired with your smartphone via the Polar Flow app (Android and iOS). Both the app and Web service are well-designed and intuitive to use.

Your workouts are nicely displayed on a big map of your route, with the main workout statistics shown prominently. A single chart shows pace, heart rate and altitude, so you can easily see how you fared.

If you are looking only to run or walk to boost your physical activity, the Polar M400 may offer the best value for your money.
