First impressions
With another tablet added to the
flourishing budget tablet category, Karbonn Smart Tab 10 is arguably one of the
best available budget tablets purely on looks. After un-boxing the product, we
were taken aback by the weight of the product. Yes, it is bulky. When we used
it for the first time, we were impressed by its performance. Packed with a 1.5
GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Dual Core processor, this tablet does offer some impressive
speed. In terms of design, the tab is simple one with a secondary camera and
the menu key in front and buttons and ports on one side and speakers on the
other. Having used several budget tablets, we were keen to explore this device
further.

Review
The Karbonn Smart Tab 10 - Cosmic is a
great budget tablet. We started playing Angry Birds on the device and we had no
complains. Providing a screen size of 9.7 inches the product offers great
resolution. The Android 4.1 - Jellybean operating system not only offers
smooth operation but also a heavily responsive touch. Over Wi-Fi, we accessed
the internet (we used Chrome) and it works like a charm. The battery life is
also good as it lasts easily for a day upon usage and 2 days on standby.
But, there are cons to this device as well.
The camera does not offer great performance neither in well-lit areas nor in
dim lit ones. The VGA front camera is also very average, just about good enough
to make video calls. The sound quality is also poor both on loudspeaker and in
ear. Karbonn also chose to skip 3G connectivity, which was another let down.
The internal storage capacity is only 1.5 GB, which is absurd. Considering that
one of the USP's of the product is supposed to be its HD gaming capability,
where would you store these. It is a proven fact that games lag when they are
installed on an external storage component.

Verdict
Overall, the Karbonn Smart Tab 10 - Cosmic
is one of the best budget tablets in the market currently. Considering it is
priced at $190, the features of this tablet are quite good. It is not only a
good-looking tablet but it also offers great performance. Right from connectivity
to functionality, it gave us only few aspects worth complaining about. Yes, the
camera and the sound quality did fail to impress us, but from a budget tablet
we did not really expect much.
Overall,
the Karbonn Smart Tab 10 - Cosmic is one of the best budget tablets in the
market currently.
