Epson is usually associated with printers. Or at least that is the impression most would have when they hear the name. It is pretty obvious as to why it is synonymous to printers – the devices it develops and produces have outstanding print outs that is usually unmatched. Even its affiliations to dot-matrix printers are rather high. The same dedication and passion can also be found within the projectors it manufactures, such as the Epson EB1776-W.

Zero warmth

Setting up the EB1776-W is pretty simple. Just take it out of the bag, plug it in and you’re good to go. What makes it better is the fact that there is no need to wait for it to warm up as it can be used within seconds of powering up. The same can be said after it has been turned off. Usually you would need to let the projector cool down before it can be unplugged. Not so with the EB1776-W as it also take seconds to cool off and be ready for relocation.

Perfect clarity

Powered with Epson’s 3LCD technology, the EB1776-W produces top notch color balance and pin sharp pictures. Backed up with a HDMI input and 3,000 lumens rating, this projector is indeed in the big leagues and proves itself as a true market competitor. And thanks to its real time “Keystone Correction” feature, you can always be assured of a straight projection at all times. I did a test by misaligning the projector or bumping the table it had been placed on to off-set its positions and both times the error had been corrected without delay. Very impressive indeed! Another bonus is the fact that I can split-screen the video sources and display two outputs at the same time. How cool is that!

Wireless deal

If cables are not your thing, then the EB1776-W has the next best feature one can ever wish for on a projector: wireless interconnectivity. Not only does it cut down the setup time since there are one or two less wires to deal with, but it also ensures a smooth setup that doesn’t seem too messy. Did it work? After some minutes of fiddling in the main menu area and finally being able to pair it up with the notebook that I can say it experience is somewhat seamless. Of course, once you get the hang of it, it’s very easy to prepare it in minutes. The same goes for the Epson iProjection app, which can be used to connect and tether content wirelessly onto the EB1776-W. It is unfortunate that the app is for iOS only.

Cute package

I must say that, while the idea is not new, it is how Epson executed the whole concept. It goes above and beyond what I have seen thus far and it sets the bar as to how one can so easily and quickly devise a method to improve the wireless platform that so many have tried to develop. With so many features packed within, one would think that the EB1776-W would be rather large. In actual fact, it isn’t overly so. While it does look rather wide, the overall size of the projector still has a slim profile that is further exemplified by its light weight.

Whether travelling on business or simply moving between meeting rooms, this ultra-mobile projector is the ideal choice for effective, stress-free presenting on the move.
