Brother MFC-J4510DW is not your typical multifunction
printer. Lower-than-normal upper face is 185mm deep but it’s wide, with A3
printing support. The paper seems to be loaded on one side to take full
advantages of the printer width.

The configuration is easy to carry out, though it’s the
first printer that we have to read the reference guide to know where the USB
cable connection is.
Brother is interesting when using thanks to the large 3.7-inch
color display. It makes the printer very logical when operating.
With built-in fax utility, there are risks that the
multifunction printer can be overload with the keys. Brother develops a clever
trick: only lighten the keys when you need them. For most tasks, several keys
can be selected.
The expanded connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
The printer also has the cloud computing ability, and you can connect mobile
devices and insert memory card through many slots.
An interesting point is the Secure Print feature, which wait
until you reach the printer and enter the password before downloading
documents, helps to keep your secret job become private.
We also love the scanning components. The lid can be
adjusted for bigger documents, and 2400x2400dpi optical resolution enables the
image depth. 20-sheet ADF is especially useful for fax.
Paper processing is Stable, with the well-designed paper
tray which can store 150sheets/time. It’s pretty good for almost all purposes,
though companies which usually use printer can see the demand of changing paper
become more regularly.

A3 copy should be printed in Best mode. The fastest speed we
see here is 2 minutes 55 seconds, as compared with 1 minute 42 seconds for A4
page.
For A4, the text seems a little light in the fastest 18.3ppm
mode. In the middle mode, the text is pretty dark, and there is no blurred word
- a common problem to most inkjet printers, and the speed is pretty good with 13.3ppm.
However, the highest mode also means that you have to pay with
by the speed; with the pages in our text, it can only print at the speed of 1.8ppm.
The text doesn’t have the perfection from a good laser printer, but the quality
is sufficient to overcome most of the test.
In all of the modes, the color is a little light and weak.
The result with photo paper seems better.
Automatic two-sided printing is consisted of costly
performance. In the fastest mode, the text copies reduce from 18.3ppm down to
5.3ppm.
Brother is pretty soundless, though it emits noise like the
sound of fireworks from afar. Sometime, this noise still remains after
printing.
600-page cartridge has the price of $34.5 for black in and $22.5
for color ink, while 1200-page options have the prices in turn are $48 and $33.
The best printing cost is 2.8p for black and white page, and
5.7p for color page. It’s pretty competitive, but defeated by $140 HP
Photosmart 7520, which provide the 2.4p and 4.8p.printing cost.

If you need mainly the graphics printer, you will find better
models somewhere else. But the copy of Brother is good, and the feature
systems are abundant.
