Setting the simulated message

Now simulate the response from the credit card validation service.

  1. Double-click on the wire between BPEL process approveLargeOrder and the getCreditCardStatus web service.

  2. Go to the Emulates tab and click on the plus sign.

  3. Click on Generate Sample to have a sample response created automatically for you and edit the XML fragment to change the response value to VALID to simulate what the web service would return in response when the credit card number is valid.

  4. Click on OK and click on OK again. After closing the dialog, notice that the wire has changed to a dashed line and there is an arrow indicating there is a message set for the return value of that service.

Setting the assertion for success

Now perform an assertion to verify the order status.

  1. Double-click on the wire between routePO and WriteApprovalResults.

  2. Add an assertion by selecting the green plus sign.

  3. To check only part of the message click on the Browse button to select only one field of the XML structure.
  4. Select only imp1:status.

  5. Click on OK.
  6. For assert value, enter approved as that is the value you are expecting for the purchase order status.

  7. Click on OK and click on OK again. After closing the dialog, notice that the wire has changed to a dashed line and there is an arrow indicating there is an assertion set on data being sent to that service.
