Application menu

The application menu is where you will find the NEX-6’s add-ons that can be downloaded, which are discussed in detail on the Wi-Fi and Apps pages.

·         The apps are loaded: Varies (The currently installed apps will be displayed here)

·         PlayMemories Camera Apps: Enter the app store

·         Introduction: Service Introduction, Service Availability

·         Application Management: Sort, Manage and Remove; Display Account Information

Setup menu

The setup menu of the NEX-6 is long and wide, and divided into several sub-categories. Once again, there are a few insane interdependencies in which the settings you are able to access at any time - for instance you are only able to set up your priorities for the maximum focus if the camera is in the MF mode or DMF mode, which is installed in the camera menu.

·         AEL w/shutter: On, Off

·         AF Illumination: Auto, Off

·         Phase Detection AF Area: On, Off (Whether the phase detection AF points are displayed on the LCD / EVF or not)

·         Red-eye Reduction: On, Off (For the pre-flash reduction system)

·         Finder/LCD setup: Auto; Viewfinder, LCD Monitor

·         Live view display: Setting Effect ON; Setting Effect OFF (OFF is to brighten the screen for easily visibility, ON has the same brightness of exposure).      

·         Automatic Watch: Off, 2 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec

·         Grid line: Rule of Thirds Grid, Square Grid, Diagonal + Square Grid; Off

·         Maximum levels: Off, Low, Mid, High (Sets the contrast threshold for the maximum display)

·         Maximum colors: White, Red, Yellow

·         Clear Image Zoom: On, Off (Brings up to a 2x increase in zoom power (at the resolution of 'Large') with a minimal loss in image quality)

·         Digital Zoom: On, Off (Gives you an additional zoom power increase, but with noticeable degradation of the images)

·         Superior Auto Image Extract: Auto, Off (Whether all of the pictures in the continuous shooting mode can be saved when in Superio Auto mode or not)

·         MF Support: On, Off (Extended frame when focusing manually)

·         MF Support Time: 2 sec, 5 sec, No Limit

·         Color Space: sRGB, AdobeRGB

·         SteadyShot: On, Off

·         Release w / o Lens: Enable, Disable

·         Eye-Start AF: On, Off (Only operates with the Alpha lenses on the LA-EA2 adapter)

·         Front Curtain Shutter: On, Off

·         Long Exposure NR: On, Off

·         High ISO NR: Normal, Low         

·         Lens Comp: Shading: Auto, Off

·         Lens Comp: Chro. Aber.: Auto, Off

·         Lens Comp: Distortion: Auto, Off (Can be fixed at "Auto" with some lenses)

·         Auto slow shutter: On, Off (Adjusts the shutter speed while recordings movies to lighten your object)

·         Movie Audio Record: On, Off

·         Wind Noise Reduction: On, Off

·         AF Micro Adj: AF Adjustment Setting (On, Off); Amount; Clear (only for use with the Alpha lenses on the LA-EA2 adapter)

·         Function Settings: Custom Settings 1 (AF / MF Select, Autofocus Mode, Autofocus Area, Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Auto Port. Framing (Soft, Skin); Effect (Quality, ISO, White Balance, Metering); Mode (DRO / Auto); HDR (Picture Effect, Creative Style, Flash Mode, Not Set); Custom Settings 2 (Same options as above); Custom Settings 3 (Same options as above); Custom Settings 4 (Same options as above); Custom Settings 5 (Same options as above), Custom Settings 6 (Same options as above); (Selection of options available on the menu is called up when pressing the Fn button)

·         Movie Button: On, Off     

·         Custom Key Settings: AEL Key Settings (AEL Hold, AEL Toggle, Shooting Tips, AF/ MF Select, Autofocus Mode, Autofocus Area, Object Tracking (Zoom, Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Auto Port, Framing, Soft Skin Effect (Quality, ISO, White Balance, Metering); Mode (DRO/Auto); HDR (Picture Effect, Creative Style, Flash Mode, Flash); Compensation (MF Assist, View on, Smartphone, Download application, Application List, Not Set); Select Application (Choose App download); Soft Key B Setting (Shooting Tips, Autofocus Mode, Object Tracking, Zoom, Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Auto Port; Framing, Soft Skin Effect, Quality, ISO, White Balance , Metering Mode, DRO / Auto HDR, Picture Effect, Creative Style, Flash Mode, Flash Compensation, MF Assist, View on, Smartphone, Download appli [cation], Application List, Not Set); Select Application (Choose an downloaded App); (The "Download Application" section does not operate as its name implies. It is really quick way to upload one of the apps that you have just downloaded)        

·         Beep: On, Off (the users annoyed by the "clicking" sound used during menu navigation may choose this option. Also disables the AF confirmation beep)

·         Languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese

·         Date/Time Setting: Daylight Saving (On, Off) Year-Month-Day Hours: Mins, Date Format (Y / M / D, D / M / Y, M / D / Y)

·         Area setting: Set Time Zone, Daylight Saving On / Off

·         Help Guide Display (Help Guide): On, Off (Shows "tool tips" when you hover over a menu item)

·         Power Save: Max; Standard

·         Time to start saving battery: 30 min, 5 min, 1 min, 20 sec, 10 sec

·         LCD Brightness: Manual (-2 to +2 (5 steps)); Sunny weather (The NEX-6 lacks a feature of auto LCD brightness)           

·         Viewfinder Bright: Auto, Manual (-1, 0, +1)

·         Display Colors: White, Black, Blue, Pink (Sets up the background color for the menus)

·         Image Width: Full Screen, Normal

·         Playback Display: Auto Rotate, Rotate Manual

·         HDMI Resolution: Auto, 1,080p, 1,080i

·         CTRL for HDMI: On, Off (Enables / disables CEC remote control when connected to a TV via HDMI)

·         USB Connection: Auto, Mass Storage, MTP

·         Cleaning Mode: Exit, OK (for the manual sensor cleaning)

·         Version: Body, Lens / Mount Adapter (Displays the current firmware version)

·         Demo mode: On, Off (Shows movie playback demo, requires AC power adapter)

·         Initialize: Reset Default; Factory Reset   

Memory card device section

Options

·         Format: Exit, OK

·         File Number: Series, Reset

·         Folder Name: Standard Form, Date form

·         Select Shoot Folder: Select from the current folders; OK

·         New folder: OK (Creates a new folder based on current Folder Name setup)

·         Restore the image DB: Exit, OK (Checks image data to detect errors)

·         Display Card Space: OK (Displays number of recordable images and available movie recording time at the current settings)

System settings section

Options

·         WPS Push: - Connect to WPS system (After choosing this option, you are able to press the WPS button on compatible routers to install Wi-fi easily)

·         Access Point Settings: Select available networks; Manual Setting (Manual Registration, WPS Pin)

·         Edit Device Name: - Install camera system name

·         Display MAC Address: OK

·         Reset View on Smartphone: OK

·         Reset System Settings: OK
