The 20.1 megapixel Sony Alpha A58 DSLT is
the newest Sony camera with interchangeable lens and translucent mirror
technology and is designed to replace both the Sony Alpha A37 and A57, provides
simplicity for users of Sony Alpha DSLT.

Sony Alpha A58 DSLT has a new 20.1
megapixel Exmor CMOS APS-C sensor, with ISO100 to ISO16000, and a BIONZ image
processor for improving image detail with low noise. The camera includes
SteadyShot INSIDE, which reflect the motion sensor of any camera shake. Sony
Translucent Mirror Technology means it uses a translucent mirror with autofocus
sensor separately, allowing continuous AF, and mirror does not need to move
while shooting. Due to using the mirror technology, camera does not feature
optical viewfinder as other Digital SLR, but instead has an electronic
viewfinder - this model boasts a 1.44million dot OLED viewfinder with eye –
detection sensor, and the back is the flip screen of 460K dot.
The
camera can be replaced with translucent mirror technology
Auto objects framing, will automatically
frame portraits, macro or AF Tracking, and cut while also retaining the
original image. This function is an update to the auto portrait framing on
previous model, and can be disabled if necessary. Lock on AF is another new
feature, which will automatically recognize the size and track objects moving
accordingly. New 20.1 megapixel sensor offers ISO 100 to ISO 16000, with area
based on noise reduction to improve low light performance.
Introduced with Sony Alpha A58 is a new kit
lens, the Sony DT f/3.5-5.6 18-55mm SAM II (Model SAL18552). The lens has
newly-designed tail lens to prevent flare and ghost, while the mechanical
components are upgraded to more active and comfortable.

At the top you will notice that A58 has
followed Sony Alpha and NEX cameras and has a more ISO standard flash hot-shoe,
with a Terminal Multi Ni accessory port. Included in the box is an adapter to
convert it back to the old style of Sony flash plug if necessary. In front of
the shutter release button is a control wheel to adjust aperture or shutter
based on the mode you use.
There is a front grip, for high barrier
levels because it is made of rubber. On the rear is a good sized thumb grip,
but it's made of plastic and not rubber as front grip. Electronic viewfinder
is the same resolution as the Sony Alpha A57; however, this new model is OLED
instead of LCD, and looks good with clear display.
Also on the back is menu button, video,
AEL, exposure, FN, and Playback and (Help), with a four-way control and middle
AF button. Four-way control allows quick access to DISP, Drive, WB and Creative
shooting effects.

The 2.7inch screen has a 460k dot
resolution and tilts up and down, though does not look good when no direct
angle. The menu is clear and easy to use, and many setups can be adjusted with
the Fn button on the screen. Under the camera has a tripod jack and battery
with a memory card, access from the side.
Plastic lens mount, while the previous
model, A37 and A35 has a metal lens metal mount, although this is only in the
front, with the rear of the ring is also made of plastic (on the previous
model too) . Whether this will affect the reliability of the camera has not
been detected, but did not cause any problems unless you regularly and roughly,
change your lens. The appearance of the plastic lens mount that makes camera
looks unfinished when viewed without the lens attached.

shooting 8 JPEG shots in continuous mode, the camera slows to roughly 2 to 3fps
We took some photos to test the response of
the camera, from the opening of the first photo, turn over each one in turn,
focus speed, etc.... We have some photos and then use average to ensure the
accuracy and consistency, makes it easy to compare with other cameras.
